PROFILE

Nikolaos Katiforis was born in Athens, in 1965. He studied in Athens and received his law degree from the Law Faculty of the University of Athens, where he worked, with  a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece, under the supervision of Professor Nikolaos K. Klamaris on his doctoral thesis, entitled: Stay of execution (Athens, 1994).

Furthermore, he has been Fellow of the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece, for  postdoctoral research at the University of Athens  (2000-2002) and of the German Humboldt Foundation, for postdoctoral research at the University of Cologne (2005). Barrister at law entitled to plead before the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos) since 1998.

Nikolaos Katiforis is Associate Professor in Civil Procedure Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Athens. He is teaching national, international, european and comparative procedural law. He has published in the areas of the national, international, european and comparative procedural law in Greek and in other languages.  He held various contributions in national and international congresses.

In the recent elections of the Hellenic Association of Procedural Law, Nikolaos Katiforis was elected to the Board of Directors as Special Secretary. He is member of several international associations of procedural and comparative law (e. g. International Association for Procedural Law, Wissenschaftliche Vereinigung für das Internationale Verfahrensrecht).

Finally, he is proficient in working in German and English.
