PHILIP C. JESSUP INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is looking for its new Jessup team!

The Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition is the oldest and largest public international law moot court competition, with more than 1000 participating universities all around the globe! The final round will be held in person in Washington, DC, between 30 March 2024 and 6 April 2024.

The Jessup 2024 problem, scheduled to be released by mid-September 2023, will concern traitors and crooks. It will raise issues related to the right to political expression, statelessness, the right to a nationality, and the scope of the United Nations Security Council's authority in the pacific settlement of disputes.

The Application deadline is Wednesday, 20 September 2023.

All interested students, both undergraduate and LL.M. students (admitted to the LL.M. Programme for the academic year 2023-2024), are encouraged to apply by sending an email entitled “Jessup 2023 – [your name and surname]” to  papastavridis[at]academyofathens[dot]gr; nbourazelis[at]gmail[dot]commatina1ath[at]gmail[dot]com; aspmarin7@gmail.com consisting of the following:

  1. Their CV in English (as an attachment, preferably in pdf format)
  2. A 250-word maximum text explaining their motivation to participate (in a worddocument format)

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview on Thursday, 21 September 2023, 18.30 at Athens PIL Cetner premises (47 Akademias Str).
