Photini Pazartzis completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Athens (1981) and her graduate studies at the University of Paris-II Panthéon-Assas (DEA 1984, Doctorat d’Etat 1991, Paul Guggenheim Prize 1993).

She is Director of the Department of International Studies of the Athens Law School and Director of the LL.M. International and European Studies. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of public international law, settlement of disputes, international courts and procedures, international human rights law, international criminal law, law of the sea.

She is currently member and Vice-Chair of the UN Human Rights Committee (ICCPR). She is President of the European Society of International Law (since September 2020). She has been Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law and at Wolfson College of the University of Cambridge (1998, 2017-2018) and has lectured at several Universities and academic institutions, including the Universities of Bordeaux, Paris-I, Paris-II (Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales), Cambridge, Oxford, UCL, Sheffield, Oslo, the European University Institute (Florence), the Xiamen Academy of International Law (China). She was Director of Studies in Public International Law at the Hague Academy of International Law (2003). She is Co-Chair of the International Law Association Study Group on The Content and Evolution of the Rules of Interpretation and was previously member of the ILA Committee on Reparations for Victims of Armed Conflict (2003-2014). In July 2018, she delivered a course at the Hague Academy of International Law on Reparation in International Adjudication.

She is member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of International Law; member of the Advisory Board of the Polish Yearbook of International Law.
